Field trials were conducted using different doses of our optimized extract of algae from the Chilean coast, to assess the activity of the enzyme β-glucosidase which correlates with microbiological activity and is highly sensitive to soil management.
This enzyme was selected because it is characteristic of living organisms (mainly bacteria and fungi), is associated with the mineralisation of organic matter and the C cycle, and is widely used as a bio-indicator of soil health due to its sensitivity to biotic or abiotic stress.
The results after 30 days of application show a considerable increase in β-glucosidase activity of 15 to 75%, depending on the species, on previous applications of other extracts or humic acids, location and dose applied according to treatment.
